Mummy Fever

21st January 2015

By Mummy Fever

working mum of 4, blogger, skier, gym lover

As a mum of four I have become pretty good and deciding which baby products are worth the money and which aren't. This is certainly worth the money.

My favourite items are the ones which last well and of course ones that can be used by several children. This can absolutely be re-used by other children!

Fisher Price Jumperoo

I bought this Jumperoo in preparation for my third baby as I had heard good things about it. I read a few reviews and was impressed with what I had heard and I hadn't got anything similar. The first thing to say about it is that it looks great. The colours are fantastic and it is bright and eye catching.

Fisher Price make quality products and this is no exception. The quality of the Jumperoo is obvious, it looks well-made and durable, it is a product parents can have full confidence in.

It was very easy to assemble and is adjustable, although in all honesty we have not changed the setting on this at all. Unless your child grows very quickly you won't have to adjust it for a while, although this is quite easy to do.

Fisher Price Jumperoo

I started using this when my son was 6 months old. Your child needs to have good head and upper body control to use this but the unit itself is quite supportive and when they are little they sit down quite deep into the seat.

I know some people say that this is really massive and too big for most homes but I think it is worth it even if you don't have much space. Try to think about where you might spend most of your time or somewhere in the house where you might need an extra pair of hands. So for example, if you have a spare corner in a kitchen/dining room you may want to put it there so you can have two hands free to be busy in the kitchen and still keep an eye on the baby.

Babies love to bounce and spin in this, and as they get older they will love to spin the toys as well. One of the really lovely things is watching how your babies' interest in the Jumperoo changes. So for example once they figure out they can bounce there is no stopping them but then as they get bigger that becomes old news and they start paying more attention to the toys and how they all work.

Fisher Price Jumperoo

It wipes clean really well and the seat cleans well with a damp cloth. Between the toys can be easily cleaned with an old toothbrush as some of the spaces are quite small.

Another bonus is the batteries last for ages. We haven't changed then yet and ours has had a lot of action!

I can't stress enough how much I love this product. I feel as if we have more than had our money's worth from this and we still have another baby who will use it. The beauty of well-made, quality baby products like this as well is the re-sale ability. You find that things like this sell on really well so that is worth thinking about if you are concerned about the initial outlay, just think that you will make quite a bit of that back when you have finished with it.

If I had to make a top ten list of must-have baby items which have proved invaluable to me this would certainly be on that list. I think especially if you have a few children of different ages this Jumperoo is great. It is stimulating, keeps baby active but also keeps you hands free!

I'm new here.

We purchased the Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo after several recommendation from friends, and have been very happy with the item. Our son in particular enjoys it and, after all, he is the main reason we were interested.

Currently it is a little large, as our son doesn't quite touch the floor - but as he is under the recommended age, this is far from a flaw in the design. We found a soft pillow underneath is a satisfactory way to bridge the gap. This may not suit everybody, however we felt he was showing clear signs that he was ready and eager to begin using the Jumperoo.

Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo

The Rainforest Jumperoo comes in a largish box, with several pieces that require assembly. For the large part this is a very easy procedure, no tools are required except to insert the batteries, and everything runs in a 'click in place' system. Everything was relatively simple to connect and assemble, the only fiddly bits were the seat cover and connecting the stand to the three poles of the main piece. I felt the instructions covered everything that was necessary, however it was printed very small so it was a little cumbersome to go through. Total time for putting the Jumperoo together however was under 10 minutes, so overall I was very happy with the process. There are four individual pieces for the base, and the main piece has 5 assembly pieces, as well as 2 for the seat.

Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo

Once assembled the Rainforest Jumperoo takes up a little over 1x1 metre. Without any simple way to fold up the item when not in use, this makes it a rather large toy, and this would be my only real issue with it. Although easy to disassemble, there is little space saved by breaking it down into manageable parts, so it has become a feature in our living room for now. We have kept the box so it can be easily stored away when it is outgrown.

Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo

Functionally this is a great toy, and the enjoyment is very clear almost instantly. With music and flashing lights, although limited to only one of several of the toy inserts, and plenty of interactive toys our son was very happy to explore. The seat is able to be swivelled 360 degrees, and as our son grows into the Rainforest Jumperoo I believe he will find this feature more readily, at the moment his size and motor skills limit him to exploring whatever direction we place him in. This is no slight on the enjoyment however, as he spends the majority of the time giggling and jumping up and down. We tends to pause briefly to concentrate and explore the different toys, before getting excited at the interaction, which is great fun to watch. The music also appears to be triggered both by his jumping, and interacting with some of the toys in the electronic section. I don't believe from our experience that this section is necessary to enjoy the product, but it certainly escalates the options and enjoyment all round. There are three main section of toys for the child to play with, two hanging toys which our son watches but cannot yet reach, and two smaller toys in between the three sections. All the toys are very interactive, with noise, movement and touch sensations. The section that takes batteris has the most interactive toys, as well as two audio settings and music tracks. On the spring straps there are three height options, which are very easy to alter and offer a good longevity for the product.

Overall, provided you can accommodate the size of the Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo, I would definitely recommend the product. We were very excited to purchase the Jumperoo, and at this early stage it is already obvious that it was a good decision. The product is durable, and all the pieces offer a quality and diverse range of entertainment for our son.

Stay-at-home New Preemie Mum and Wife of tech-mad husband

I chose to buy the Fisher Price Rainbow Jumperoo because of its design; most baby walkers of this type are 'walkers' which allow the baby to move around the room. After discussion with a baby physiotherapist I was advised that both door bouncers and these walkers aren't ideal and don't really aid muscle development. I was advised the Jumperoo in short bursts wouldn't have such an effect.

I bought the Jumperoo on eBay and whilst I was apprehensive about it I was pleasantly surprised with the condition I collected it in. It didn't come with a box or instructions but as it was constructed already this was not an issue.

Fisher Price Jumperoo

All the fabrics are machine washable, handy both if you are buying second hand and want to freshen it and in case of future accidents! Introducing it to my very excited 6 month old was a great experience. I'm quite sure she didn't know where to look first!

It has everything you could possibly desire for a sensory experience; different textures, colours, shapes, lights, moving parts, music and that's before you've gotten to the jumping! At first her little legs were quite unsure but now every time she gets in the seat she's more sure and excited and gets straight to jumping enthusiastically.

Fisher Price Jumperoo

Every day she is discovering new things which is lovely both for her and to watch. She has yet to work out how to spin herself in the seat but does enjoy being moved around to look at the toys behind her. There is something to look at and play with no matter which direction the seat faces.

At the front is the main panel has the controls to set the music which has a volume control on thankfully! This section has animals to play with and a spinning wheel for the baby to re-start the music on their own. It also has lights which flash when the music is playing. Moving clockwise around the seat there is a little butterfly which the baby is able to pull towards them whilst staying attached. It is plastic with material wings, the material makes a scrunching sound and this is a huge hit - straight in the mouth! Further round is a lizard creature in an oval shaped rattle which hasn't really interested my little girl yet, but then she does spend most of her time facing forwards at the moment. Next is a small indent I assume for things the child might bring to the Jumperoo like a dummy or teether. There is a lovely rainbow area which has a sun which again spins and a button to press which makes a tiger jump below the sun. There is a rainbow spinning wheel and then back to the front. Overhead there is a parrot and a lizard dangling from leaves which are height adjustable. These two move when the baby is jumping and provide my daughter with a clear target - she is determined to get them and you can see it on her face! Little does she know when she can reach I'll move them up higher!

Fisher Price Jumperoo

Each aspect of the Jumperoo is wonderfully put together, the colours are bright and inviting the shapes are intriguing and the interaction so excellently centered around the seat. It has three height levels to account for your growing child which I'm hoping will give it some longevity, although if you have a tall child obviously it will not last as long. I do think this is a great feature though because it does allow the younger baby to be seated safely with feet on the floor. It is suitable whilst your child can't walk or attempt to climb out.

The Jumperoo provides a safe space for babies to be upright without parental input as long as they can support their own head. When the play gym, bouncer or swing are no longer providing them with the view they want and they are so inquisitive all they want is to sit up and look around (and you cannot hold them all day long) this can provide you with a short break whilst they are contently engaged and sitting safely upright. The main disadvantage so far is how much my little girl loves this! I limit her time in the one position to 30 minute segments based on advice from physiotherapist so she sometimes wants that bit longer. It is also a very big piece and will need quite a bit of room. A big advantage is that she is able tire herself out in this at the moment - the very first time she was in it for 15 minutes and when I picked her up she went straight to sleep on my shoulder.

Fisher Price Jumperoo

I would definitely recommend this product to other parents. It is a well-made, sturdy product which is clearly fun and exciting for baby. It gives a little more parental freedom than a bouncer which you are constantly bouncing with your own foot. Being able to iron a few shirts or pop out of the room for a moment is liberating but it's not a magical answer to cleaning the house top to bottom whilst they are entertained. My little girl is definitely a fan and loves to bounce and giggle in it and for me that makes it worth the money!

I like bacon sandwiches.

The Fisher Price Jumperoo is my son's new favourite thing. He can stay in it for a long time without getting bored.

I would say it's perfect for a 6 month old to 1 year old baby, but of course that depends on their size. You might just need to add something under their feet so they can touch the ground, like a blanket or flat pillow.

The Jumperoo has 3 sizes, so you can adjust it to your baby's size quite easily.

The chair part of the Jumperoo can spin around, it's not stuck to the frame, so the baby can move around and face in different directions, and play with all the different toys. (It takes awhile for them to learn how to spin, it gets much easier when they can touch both feet on the floor!)

On the front of the Jumperoo, there are three characters - an elephant which twists, a parrot (I think) which can move backwards and forwards and a monkey which swings. There are some lights which flash, underneath the characters, two sound settings (quiet/loud) and a music setting - you can either leave the music to play for 5 minutes continuously or, you can set it so that it makes music when he jumps. I'm not sure if he has noticed the difference, but it's fun to watch!

There's a plastic roller on the baby's side which will replay the music if it runs out. So another way for him to have some control over the Jumperoo.

One one side of the main play area is a butterfly that's attached via a "rope" - it's not the most exciting toy but it does get a pull every now and again!

Moving around the Jumperoo, there's a transparent rattle you can roll and watch the tiny coloured balls moving around inside - it does make a satisfying rattle!

There's a small tray next to that which could hold a dummy or something small.

Continuing around the chair, there's a tiger which jumps up and down when you push the button, below a rainbow and a cloud with another transparent rattle.

The last thing before we arrive back at the main play area is a spinning wheel, this is a popular one because you can see all the colours spin.

To be honest my son doesn't use most of these toys, he usually jumps while playing with the elephant, parrot and monkey in the main front area. I'm sure he will figure out how to use the rattles soon! Actually he does like the spinning wheel too and if I draw his attention to something he will have a go.

The biggest drawcard for the Jumperoo though, seems to be the jumping (no surprise there.) Everything attached shakes a bit when he jumps and honestly it will keep him busy for ages - jumping seems to be where it's at. He used to be more interested in the toys but now it's jumping all the way. He's built up major leg strength from spending so much time in it - he's 4 months old and can almost stand (with support!)

There are a couple of hanging toys on the Jumperoo as well - I think they are parrots hanging from giant leaves which hang above the chair. It's easy to adjust them as your baby gets bigger, so that he doesn't pull on them too much. You can literally just adjust them by cranking them up and down, very easy!

The actual chair insert is completely removable and is also machine washable, which is awesome and convenient, as there is a lot of dribble going on at all times!

There's a button down the bottom which you can push when you're transporting the Jumperoo, it doesn't fold in all the way though and it's still quite a bulky product when you have to move it.

It seems to be a good chair for a small baby, even 2 months old, because they will grow into it and the chair can be adjusted the bigger they get.
