Could the Jabra Elite 65t finally challenge Apple AirPods dominance? 5hr battery, excellent sound quality, and modern design certainly bring them close.

I like bacon sandwiches.

I ordered some Jabra Elite 65t headphones from Amazon after deciding I needed to upgrade from an old wired set I'd had for years. Until now I always put off going for a wireless option, I didn't want the inconvenience of batteries, but heard good things - so took the plunge.

To Wire or Not To Wire?

Before even thinking about which model to go for, I'd recommend taking a step back and consider the pros and cons of wires.

In general, wireless headphones will lack the audio quality of their wired counterparts.

With wireless you obviously have to consider a finite battery life which can be frustrating if you're out and about.

The main advantage with wireless is obviously comfort and flexibility. You are not constrained by wires and don't have to worry about threading your wires around your clothes or hair.

So What About The Jabra Elite 65t?

Well, they have around 5 hours of battery life - which actually puts them up there with a set of industry leading Apple AirPods. What's more, they come with a pocket-friendly charging case to provide 15 hours of use on the go.

As for sound quality, I would say they are superb for wireless. My only criticism would be slightly flat at times and lacking bass, but they come with an app to help you customise levels.

Connectivity is fast and simple - I experienced no drop-outs. They can even connect to two devices simultaneously.

Just like AirPods - when you remove them from your ear the music will pause, and resume when you plug them back in.

Perhaps the case is a little large (maybe double the size of the AirPods case).

Furthermore - they come with 3 different sizes of Silicon EarGels so ensure you get a tight fit in your ear. I actually have smaller-than-average ear holes and using the smallest out of the 3 they fit perfectly. I ran on a treadmill for around 30 minutes with no problem.

For voice calls the quality is reasonable. Despite having a conversation outside in the rain my friend told me I sounded crystal clear from his end. Call audio actually comes through both ears too as opposed to a mono feed, which is a nice feature.

Overall I'd recommend these as a strong alternative to the Apple AirPods. If you're a real music nerd, perhaps you'd want a wired model for the best possible sound quality. For average everyday use while travelling, I believe the slight drop in audio quality is worth trading for the extra comfort and convenience you get from being wire free.
